Skills Auction Fundraiser

Skills Auction Fundraiser

Sunday 27 February 2022 3am – 5am

We are fundraising to support Oscar, a dedicated member of our sangha, to travel to the Dharma Life Course at Adhisthāna this year. The Dharma life course is a fantastic opportunity for young Dharma Practitioners to immerse themselves in practice and the teachings of Triratna over four months of residential community in the UK. We're aiming to raise $6,040 to help Oscar with the course cost and airfare. Any additional proceeds will go towards the Vijayaloka Rennovation Fund.

Events like these are a really great way to celebrate our community, get together with  sangha, and practice generosity, sharing and well-wishing. We have already had many generous offers have come through from our community: personal training, body-work and massages, mindfulness through drawing classes, cacao bliss balls and creative writing coaching are all up for grabs at the auction on Sunday. See below for the full line up so far.

You can make silent bids via email if you like, to mathesonaaron@gmail.com in the lead up to the auction- but the auction is the time to be here as everything must go on the day! If you would prefer just to donate to the cause, you can do that here: Donate Now - when you are prompted to enter your name (or in the reference field if donating by bank transfer) make sure you mention that it is for this fundraiser so the money definitely goes to the right place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a skills auction work?

People offer to donate their skills. On the day we will auction off the skills to the highest bidder and the proceeds from that sale, instead of going to the person offering the skill, go to our fundraising target.

I want to offer a skill!

Great! Email the details to mathesonaaron@gmail.com.

Do I need to book?

No, just turn up!

I can't make it on the day, can I bid ahead of time?

Absolutely! This is called a "silent bid". Email your maximum bid to mathesonaaron@gmail.com and on the day the auctioneer will bid for you up to that maximum amount. You might be outbid though, so it is best to come in person if you want to get your favourite item!

I don't want to bid for any of the skills, but I want to give to the fundraiser. Can I just give cash?

Absolutely. Hit the "Donations" button at the top of this page and follow the steps to donate. When you are prompted to enter your name (or in the reference field if donating by bank transfer) make sure you mention that it is for this fundraiser so the money definitely goes to the right place.

Do I need to bring anything on the day?

Just a way to pay if you want to bid on anything! We can accept payment for winning bids by cash or card.

I don't want to bid on anything, and I don't have any skills to offer. Can come anyway?

Absolutely!
