Election Day Dana
Friday 13 May 2022 2pm – 2pm
Pledge one day of work as a polling officer at the upcoming federal election in May (date TBC) and donate up to $500 to the Vijayaloka Renewal Fund (tax deductible).
Election Day Dana is a fresh take on fundraising which we hope you will support! Major renovations are planned for Vijayaloka which will be costly so we are getting underway with fundraising early!
We have looked at the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website and are convinced that it is a reasonable and ethical proposal. On election day many people are needed to work at polling stations - perhaps checking names, doing administration, translating (if you have skills).
It’ll be a beautiful dana election day where you’ll be expressing your gratitude to the Dharma and all that Vijayaloka has given us. As well as supporting democracy, wherever you are in Australia, it'll be interesting and even fun day especially if you do it with friends. And the AEC provides a Covid-safe workplace.
We will have an Election Day Dana online support group to explore both the dharmic aspects of dana and the practical issues that might arise for people planning to participate.
We are hoping that as many people as possible might join the adventure.

There will be on the job training on the day.
Will I have to pay tax?
No! If you donate the money you earn, your taxable income will be reduced by the same amount it is increased by, so no additional tax will be paid.
