Send-off for new Order Members at Sydney Buddhist Centre!

As many of you will know, four of our wonderful GFR mitras – Loris, Julie, Bec and Greg – who have all been committed to ordination training for several years now, recently received their letters of invitation to join the Triratna Order. A huge congratulations to them all! We are incredibly fortunate to have these dedicated individuals amongst us in our sangha, preparing themselves for a new stage of spiritual growth. 

Bec, Loris and Julie will be heading to regional Victoria for their ordination retreat in September, and Greg to New Zealand for his. It is time for them to let go of their names as they move into the sacred mandala of ordination. 

We invite you to come along to a farewell pūjā and ritual for them on Thursday the 27 August, from 7pm at the Sydney Buddhist Centre. This event is occurring in place of the usual Thursday evening women's classes that week. 

If you wish to contribute to fundraising efforts to help relieve the financial burden of higher-than-usual costs associated with their lengthy retreats (since Vijayaloka will be under renovations at the time), some of our new ordinands' friends have independently organised the activities below. Your support directly goes towards covering food, accommodation & travel for Loris, Julie, Bec and Greg's ordination retreats.

2. Writing Your Way workshop, run by Minh Nguyen
Sydney Buddhist Centre, Sunday 2 August 4–6pm

What if the ultimate goal of Buddhism and creative writing were the same? Based on Manjusvara’s ‘Writing Your Way’, this 2-hour workshop integrates the art of writing and Buddhist wisdom to help us discover more about ourselves, our conditionality, and our interconnectedness. 3. Dinner, by donation
Sydney Buddhist Centre, Wednesday 29 July (Sangha Night), 5:45pm

The Women’s sangha will be serving a delicious ‘by-donation’ vegan meal & dessert on Sangha Night, before the evening meditation. Come along to eat together and help cover Bec, Julie & Loris's retreat costs at the same time!
