Rich Batsford - In Transience
Saturday 28 September 7pm – 8pm
Meditative Solo Piano Music with a Classical Influence
First playing the piano aged nine, Rich’s previous musical practice also includes church choirs, a capella groups, the National Youth Choir, the chorus of a major symphony orchestra, indie guitar bands, an ex-chart Beach Boys covers band, a singer/songwriter album, electronica collaborations and genre busting Omnimedia Experiences, but he finally found his musical voice when returning to the simple yet infinitely versatile beauty of solo piano.
Seeing music making as an expression of his spiritual practice, Rich began composing and performing original meditative solo piano music. Most of his influences are classical, but his music also has a contemporary flavour and is very accessible.
With ‘In Transience’, Rich aims to open a space for enjoyment, reflection and connection and most of all, an experience of beauty. Impermanence often gets a bad rap, but without it there could be no wonder, love or positive change.
With recent releases via Sonder House, an American record label, following on from a re-recording of his debut album, Rich’s recorded music is reaching ever wider audiences having been played several times on ABC Classic FM and streamed online over a million times.
