Young Sydney Buddhists

This group is for any 18-35's in Sydney who are interested in exploring mindfulness, meditation and Buddhism. It was started after a young peoples course at the Sydney Buddhist Centre as a means of staying connected, building friendships, sharing ideas, and organising future events.

We have 4 core values:

* Relevant and practical to young people’s lives
* Focused on creating freedom
* Respectful of each other as true individuals
* Offering an open environment that encourages authenticity

Join us on Wednesday evenings to meditate, catch up and explore the Dharma together.

Solar panel win for the centre!

Yay you did it! We fund-raised over $12,000 for the solar panels in December. On 20th December 2018, Samacitta and Dhammakumara signed the lease documents with Nigel an April from Pingala. The solar panels will be installed later this month, helping to get us off the dirty grid.

Not only will the solar energy be cleaner, it will also bring down our power bills right from day one, and eventually, after 5 years, the energy will be extremely low-cost or even free. Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign with your generosity and efforts! Anyone who asked for a perk should be...

Meet the new Young Buddhist Coordinator - Dhammakumara!

Dhammakumara has been appointed to the position of Young Buddhist Coordinator for Australia and New Zealand. He comes to us from the UK and was ordained in 2017 at the age of 25 years and he is currently the youngest Order Member in the Triratna Buddhist Order. Dhammakumara is a Pali name which translates as Prince of the Dhamma. We look forward to Dhammakumara starting this position in the second half of the year after he has had some time to organise his affairs in the UK and we wish him every success in this exciting job.

Many thanks to the Future Dharma Fund for funding this 12...

Triratna Young Buddhist Coordinator position - applications are now open!

Further to our news  - see earlier article here - about receiving Future Dharma funding for a Triratna Young Buddhist coordinator for New Zealand/Aotearoa and Australia, we have now completed a job description and application for the role: support someone two days a week for two years.

We want to make the Dharma available to more young people in the area and see greater depth of practice and commitment to the Triratna community among sub35 participants. Having a funded position and a more coordinated approach to the project will help us get there.

The funding also covers the...

A Young Buddhist Coordinator for our Area

Our funding request for an Australia and New Zealand Young Buddhist Coordinator was a success. FutureDharma have agreed to support someone two days a week for two years.
