Inspired by Buddhist values, we are a charity working with local community groups to help South Asia’s poorest people escape the hell of poverty and discrimination.
"For over 30 years we have worked with local community groups to help South Asia’s poorest people lead meaningful and dignified lives. We are committed to human development, enabling people to escape poverty, access their legal rights and participate fully in society.
We believe that the degradation of others is also our degradation, and that the triumph over prejudice and ignorance is a triumph for us all. For us, we want every person to have the opportunity to fulfil their potential regardless of their caste, gender, belief or ability.
Karuna supports between 40-50 projects run by local partners. We focus on Education, Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality, Capacity Building, Advocacy, Wellbeing, and Livelihoods. These projects benefit more than 50,000 people every year."
